About Cliff Leonardi, LMFT

I’m Cliff Leonardi, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in Portland, Oregon. For more than three decades, I’ve walked alongside people during some of the most meaningful—and often most challenging—chapters of their lives. My work is grounded in a calm, open-hearted presence, gentle humor, and a belief that people thrive when they feel seen, understood, and supported.

My style is warm and collaborative. Clients often describe me as steady, non-judgmental, and surprisingly easy to talk to. I draw from evidence-based approaches like Motivational Interviewing, logotherapy, and trauma-informed practice, along with a deep respect for each person’s inner wisdom. Whether we’re exploring relationships, identity, transitions, conflict, grief, or the simple question of “What now?”, I help clients find clarity, self-trust, and a renewed sense of direction.

In addition to individual and couples counseling, I specialize in coaching, co-parenting support, and mediation. I spent many years working in Multnomah County’s Family Resolution Services (formerly Family Court Services), where I supported parents navigating separation, parenting plans, and conflict. That experience taught me that people don’t need perfection—they need guidance, steadiness, and a path forward.

My work is also shaped by my own life: I’m a husband, a father, an adoptee, a longtime Portlander, a former small-business owner, and someone who values connection, curiosity, and meaning. I’m currently expanding my training in psychedelic-informed and end-of-life support work, exploring how people can face change, fear, and transition with more compassion and less isolation.

If you’re looking for a therapist or coach who balances depth with practicality—and who believes in small moves that create big change—I’d be honored to work with you.
